I remembered the tree-climbing girl and envisioned that adventurous spirit going abroad. I didn't expect the frantic phone call from aunt Anna to my mom. My mom tried calming her down. I figured something bad must've had happened. It wasn't anything like that.
"Aunt Anna and uncle Grant are very upset with Ella," my mom explained, "they think she is confused because she fell in love with another girl." "She is gay," I said, "so what?" I remembered then the mornings at Vacation Bible School, for me all play, but for my aunt and uncle quite serious education for their kids. "You need to help Ella," I said to my mom.
Option 1: My mom offered for Ella to come live with us in Seattle.
Option 2: My aunt and uncle refuse to listen to my mom and send Ella to gay conversion camp.
